I believe that successful businesses thrive in a collaborative and professional work environment. I focus on building strong relationships, by going out of my way to support my colleagues, and ensure everyone gets the opportunity to have their voice heard. By promoting a culture of team work, we achieve far more together than we could individually.
From a small dance company’s first showcase to a Utah Opera production, every show deserves a venue that’s prepared, safe, and ready on time. For two years, as an On-Call Technical Director, I have handled the preparation, setup, and strike across Salt Lake County's ten theatrical spaces for a diverse set of clients. A successful show requires communication across departments, which is why I work hand-in-hand with Front of House and Stage Management to ensure the house is ready for opening and the performance starts smoothly. From resolving pre-show issues to troubleshooting live technical challenges during a run, I am dedicated to providing a venue in which each show's needs are my first priority.
Every donor deserves a pre-show experience that’s welcoming, professional, and memorable. As the Miller Lounge Attendant at Eccles Theater, I prepare the VIP donor lounge for the Broadway at the Eccles season by cleaning and setting the space, turning on the lights and music, and making sure it’s ready for donors to relax and enjoy refreshments before the show. I greet each donor at the door, scan tickets, and make sure every guest feels welcome and valued. When issues come up, whether a ticket won’t scan or a guest has a concern, I resolve them quickly and calmly. I also help set up and maintain the Ken Garff Suite, a private lounge for the highest-tier donors. I am dedicated to providing a lounge where each donor’s experience is my first priority.
Every department runs better when the people behind it get the support they need, allowing them to keep things moving smoothly from one project to another. As the Performing Arts Administrative Assistant, I work directly with the department heads of Theater, Dance, and Music. In this position, I have handled building maintenance and repairs such as repairing signage and other fixtures around the Westminster Performing Arts Center. I also assist the administration in a range of tasks, like digitizing old performance photos, audio recordings, and video recordings. I am dedicated to being a reliable resource for the department leaders who keep the center running.
Productions cannot be put on by one person; it takes an entire team. For three and a half years, I have worked in the production shops at Westminster University, first in the scene shop for three years and now in the costume shop for the past 6 months. In the scene shop, I helped construct sets and hang and focus lights. In the costume shop, I alter and sew costumes. Production shops are intense, fast-paced work environments, and with a small crew of three to four people, we create every piece of a show, from costumes to sets. We also have to be prepared for whatever comes up, whether it’s a last-minute set design change that requires rebuilding part of the set days before opening or a communication issue that delays costume production. By working together quickly and efficiently, we make sure every production is ready in time, no matter the challenges in our way.
